The Kaleidoscope Ball raises $700,000 for TSH
The inaugural Kaleidoscope Ball, a partnership between The Scarborough Hospital Foundation and the Scarborough Walk of Fame, raised $700,000 to support the Diagnostic Imaging department at The Scarborough Hospital (TSH). Funds raised will purchase much needed state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment.
Bringing together more than 500 people on Saturday, 17 October, the Kaleidoscope Ball celebrated the diversity and vitality of Scarborough’s global community.
“Tonight, the Scarborough community’s generosity was extraordinary,” said Michael Mazza, President and CEO of The Scarborough Hospital Foundation. “On behalf of the Foundation and the hospital, we extend our sincerest gratitude to the individuals and organizations that supported the gala and Diagnostic Imaging at The Scarborough Hospital.”
Hosted by celebrated broadcasters, Christine Bentley and “Humble” Howard Glassman, the evening also paid tribute to the 2015 Scarborough Walk of Fame Inductees:
- Dr. Sophie Hofstader, Award-Winning Dermatologist and Community Leader
- Betty Carr, Community Newspaper Leader
- Mike Holmes, Canada’s Most Trusted Contractor
- Farley Flex, Manager of Potential and Social Activist
- Cherie Piper, Olympic Gold Medalist and Hockey Legend
Each inductee represents the best of the best in Scarborough, and strongly supports the world class health care that The Scarborough Hospital provides.

On Thursday, June 18, 2015 Fairchild Radio hosted a Radiothon at The Scarborough Hospital General campus, and raised $107,740.88 to support the hospital. Many thanks to Fairchild Radio and their listeners whose generosity raised over $100,000.00 in just 11 hours!
Listeners to the live broadcast between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. heard touching interviews from hospital staff and physicians as they explained how the money raised through the Radiothon would help the hospital upgrade vital equipment. The spirited enthusiasm and encouragement of the Fairchild hosts helped bring the Cantonese- and Mandarin-speaking community together to support their community hospital.
A dedicated group of volunteers manned the phone lines in the hospital’s Lee Family Auditorium and donors could donate by telephone or drop off their donation in person through a temporary drive-thru available at the Chronic Kidney Disease entrance.
