Why do hospitals need philanthropic support?
The costs of the hospital’s operations are funded by the Ontario government, which has helped create access to some of the best health care in the world. However, as part of that policy, the government asks the community to participate by purchasing 100% of the equipment needs and 10% of capital renovations.
How are your fundraising priorities determined?
The hospital establishes committees that are comprised of physicians, directors and managers that develop the priorities in consultation with hospital staff and the community. The hospital then communicates those needs to the Foundation.
How can I make a donation?
You can make a donation in the following ways:

- – In person: At the General campus: Medical Mall, Suite 108. and Centenary in the Foundation office in the Centenary lobby: Hours of operation: Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. At the Birchmount campus: There is a drop box located next to the magazine holder outside the cafeteria on the main level.

Donations can be made by cheque payable to Scarborough and Rouge Hospital Foundation or using a valid credit card (Visa, Master Card or American Express).

How can I update my donor information with you?
If you would like to update your name, address, phone number or you would like to update your credit card or banking information for your monthly gift, please contact the Foundation office by phone at 416-431-8130 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I designate my donation to a specific area of the hospital?
Donations are preferred for the highest priority needs but can be designated to specific programs, campuses or equipment.
When will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?
All donation receipts are issued immediately. Donations made to the Caring Circle Monthly Giving Club will be receipted for the total annual amount at the end of year and will be received by the end of February for the past year. You should receive your receipt immediately by email following your online donation. If you did not receive your tax receipt immediately to the email address you provided, please check your spam and junk folders. If you have not received your tax receipt after 12 hours, please email us at email@example.com or call us at 416-431-8130.
How can I request my donation tax receipt?
Can I give a gift in honour of someone else?
Of course! Making a gift in honour or in memory of someone special is a meaningful way of honouring your loved ones while helping The Scarborough Hospital. Here are the ways you can donate in celebration of someone else:
Can the Foundation send a card in honour or in memory of an individual?
Most definitely. We have many donors who make donations in honour, or in memory of friends and family. When we receive such a gift, a card will be sent to the individual (or to the closest family member), to acknowledge your generous donation. You can even send them one of our custom eCards when you make your gift online.
When an in memory or in honour gift is made, is the amount of the donation disclosed?
No, donor information is kept strictly confidential unless requested by the donor.
I/my workplace may be interested in holding a fundraising event for The Scarborough and Rouge Hospital Foundation, who should I contact?
Can I donate equipment and/or items (a gift-in-kind e.g. toys, books) to The Scarborough and Rouge Hospital Foundation?
We welcome the opportunity to discuss with you what is needed and what the hospital can best use. Each gift-in-kind donation of items and equipment is dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Does the Foundation accept future gifts through a will, securities (stocks, bonds and mutual funds), bequests or life insurance?
Yes, we do. There are a variety of ways that you can donate a planned gift to the Foundation that can help support future healthcare and provide tax advantages for you and your loved ones. Visit our Gifts by Will and Gifts of Securities section for more information.
How can I become involved as a volunteer with the Foundation?
