Gordon Kirke

Gordon Kirke has practiced law in Toronto for 40 years, first in litigation and then in corporate and commercial law, with an emphasis on the sports and entertainment industries. He has undertaken assignments and projects at the highest level of entertainment and sports matters, including acting as Canadian counsel in the Senator George Mitchell Investigation into Performance Enhancing Drugs in Major League Baseball, representing Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment in the search for a President for the Toronto Maple Leafs (Brian Burke), and, in 1997, authoring the Players First Report intended to reduce the likelihood of child sexual abuse in sports.

Gordon is recognized as a highly successful mediator with the firm of Global Resolutions Inc. in such diverse areas as personal injury, contract dispute, sexual harassment and professional negligence.

He teaches courses at the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and is a guest speaker at many Canadian and U.S. law schools, including Western, Queen’s, Windsor, Harvard, Michigan and Marquette. Gordon makes frequent radio and television appearances. He has been on the boards of many charitable and cultural organizations. He was recently featured in the cover article in Canadian Lawyer Magazine and described as “Gord Kirke—-advocate, agent, activist—is Canada’s sports lawyer extraordinaire”.
